Object of the month – any old bones

As we have a large collection of objects to reveal I thought I would start an object of the month, it will be hard to choose, so I will ask our volunteers and staff to help 🙂 To start the ball rolling I will choose a favorite of mine, some worked bone. There is something wonderful about an everyday object made from bone or antler, be it a spoon or a hair pin. I think I am drawn to this type of find as they are beautiful objects, so detailed,   useful things made from what we now throw away (or grind up to put on the roses) This Roman spoon was found on the Kingston lacy estate, it is broken but the detail and perfect shape is magic.
